As a homeschool parent and former school counselor, I understand both Virginia’s state requirements and the reality of home education.

“Tana was so wonderful to work with, she was patient and understanding. I was very anxious and nervous, and within the first few minutes with Tana I felt completely at ease and supported. I will definitely reach out to her again.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Virginia Homeschool Evaluator, Tana Amodeo

If you have documented your child’s progress through other artifacts, this is perfectly okay.  I recognize that every homeschooling family is unique and may use a range of tools and experiences to help their child learn.  My evaluations focus on your child’s outcomes and growth.

Your child’s participation in the virtual meeting is flexible, depending on their individual needs and comfort level.

You’ll need enough to show your child’s math and language arts growth, but additional and/or non-traditional subject areas are welcome and encouraged. While there is no magic number, a handful of samples from early and later in the year for each core subject is ideal.

Rather than a source of stress, consider it a chance to highlight your child’s learning and celebrate their progress!

Homeschool evaluations are an excellent option for neurodivergent learners because their progress can be considered in the context of their individual needs!  You will have the opportunity to share anything you think I should know about your child in a short survey before I review artifacts and meet with your family.

For students with significant intellectual disabilities,  developmental differences, or medical conditions, growth may be documented through individualized academic progress, communication skills, self-care, daily living skills, or other personalized areas.

The cost is $69 for the first student and $39 for each additional sibling.  This includes the full evaluation process, a virtual meeting, and your official letter of evaluation for submission.

A non-refundable $10 booking deposit per student is due to reserve your virtual appointment and will be credited toward the final cost of your evaluation.  Final payment is collected at the end of your meeting.

My heart is to cheer you on and recognize your child’s growth. If I can provide a proof of progress letter based on the artifacts you share, the evaluation fee is non-refundable.

If, in the extremely rare case, there isn’t enough evidence of progress to complete the letter, you are welcome to request a full refund in writing within 30 days of our meeting.

Please note: Refunds cannot be honored for virtual appointment no-shows.  Booking deposits are non-refundable.
